Barbara Heinrich

My life as an artist started with a BFA in Sculpture from the University of Minnesota. When I graduated I was working on abstractions in wood derived from nature and primitive in execution (hand and machine carved). For 30 years I expressed myself in a career as a clothing designer/boutique owner. Originally I started our painting on clothing and doing ‘wearable art’ this progressed to a neverending love of textiles and the endless pairing of fabrics into dresses, coats, and tops. I loved doing custom orders and working with clients in my uptown Minneapolis boutique in 2018 I have been reunited with painting and sculpture continuing abstracting from nature. I have been having fun with art for the yard–birdhouses peace poles (a portion of the sales to charities promoting peace) and bird baths. I enjoy painting ‘found’ objects especially driftwood from Lake Superior and mid-century wood classics. I have been exploring large-scale paintings on outside tarps and also canvases. I am overwhelmed with gratitude for the support of galleries and their patrons.
